To prepare for your scheduled lab section you must :

  1. Review pages 902-909 and 918-922 in Campbell.
  2. Read the lab guide in the Survival Manual before lab.
  3. Do objectives 4, 6, and 7 in Unit 7.
  4. Be prepared for a short quiz on the reading and objectives.
  5. Bring the lab guide to lab.
  6. Bring a calculator to lab.

During Lab "A":

  • You will complete Exercises 1-6 in the CP Lab Manual.
  • You will turn in the CP Lab Worksheet at the end of your lab session.
  • You will discuss how to design an experiment and begin planning your experiment with your group.

After Lab "A":

  1. Be certain to clean up after yourself in lab. Students who fail to clean up after themselves will lose points!
  2. Skim reserve readings available at the front desk and on Blackboard or find sources of your own at Mann Library and online using the search techniques you learn using the Library Tutorial.
  3. Select additional sources:
  4. Attend the CP discussion session on October 18 at 9:05AM (or 7:30PM).
  5. Complete the library tutorial online (available on Blackboard; under Assignments) and electronically submit your results no later than 2 days after your lab session "A" before closing of the center. Each student must complete and submit the tutorial. Important Note: This assignment is due at the same time as your experimental design, however, we strongly suggest you begin working on it as soon as possible so that you can spend the time you need after lab to compose your experimental design.
  6. Experimental designs are due 2 days after your lab session "A" before closing of the center. You will submit your design to the Study Center in the wooden lab report mailbox in the front desk area - one design per group.

After Lab "B":

  • Lab reports are due exactly one week after your lab session "B", 15 minutes before the Study Center closes.
In your Materials and Methods section of your lab report, you must include name and model number of any equipment that you borrowed to complete your experiment. Click here to find a list of the equipment you had available.
  • How to calculate BMI.

NOTE: Although you will work with a partner on your CP experiment, you must write your report independently. Plagiarism or any other violation of the Academic Code of Conduct will be taken seriously.
